What is the Difference Between "Flared, Ferrule, Welded Fitting"?

1. Flared fitting

Applicable medium of flared fitting: oil, water, gas and other non-corrosive or corrosive media fittings, equipped with steel pipes with flexible specifications, and after welding with the pipeline, it has a firm connection and good sealing performance and other characteristics, so the flared nipple is widely used in oil refining, chemical, light industry, textile, national defense, metallurgy, aviation, shipbuilding and other systems; it is also suitable for hydraulic transmission pipelines such as various mechanical engineering, machine tool equipment.

2. Ferrule fitting

The working principle of the ferrule pipe is to insert the steel pipe into the ferrule, lock it with the ferrule nut, resist the ferrule, cut into the pipe and seal. It does not need to be welded when it is connected to the steel pipe, which is beneficial to fire prevention, explosion protection and high-altitude operations, and can eliminate the disadvantages caused by careless welding. Therefore, it is a relatively advanced connector in the pipelines of automatic control devices in oil refining, chemical, petroleum, natural gas, food, pharmaceutical, instrumentation and other systems. It is suitable for connecting oil, gas, water and other medium pipelines. The ferrule fitting has the characteristics of reliable connection, high pressure resistance, temperature resistance, good sealing and repeatability, convenient installation and maintenance, and safe and reliable work.

3. Welded fitting

Applicable media of welded fitting: oil, water, gas and other non-corrosive or corrosive media. For welded sealed pipe joints, the specification requirements for the steel pipe are more flexible, and after welding with the welded pipe nipple, it has firm connection, good sealing performance, etc., so it is widely used in oil refining, chemical industry, light industry, textile, national defense, metallurgy, aviation, shipbuilding and other systems; it is also suitable for hydraulic transmission pipelines of various mechanical engineering, machine tools, etc. When the production of ferrule fittings can not meet the needs, and where the corrosion is strong, it can be used first.

The "ferrule" interface may be more convenient for replacement and maintenance in daily lifes. But the choice of general interface still mainly depends on the needs of materials and media used.

(1) Generally, the materials of ferrule fittings are carbon steel, copper and stainless steel. The correct choice of materials can achieve the best price-performance ratio. The price mainly depends on the purchase price. It adopts the flared type and the bamboo type, and there are standards to be checked.

(2) The chemical properties of different fluid media are different. The service life of ferrule fittings of different materials under different fluid conditions is also different.

(3) The comprehensive price, the service life of the ferrule joint (determine the replacement frequency), and the sealing performance under the same pressure conditions determine the best cost performance.
