Development of Thin-walled Stainless Steel Pipe Connection

With the improvement of people's living standards, more attention is paid to the health of water sources. At present, stainless steel pipes stand out among many pipes due to their unique advantages and are beginning to become popular. However, there is no problem with the material of stainless steel pipes, and there are various types in their development. However, there are also many problems with the stainless steel pipe joining methods. Let SANVO introduce the development process of the thin wall stainless steel pipe fittings connection method.

There are currently four stainless steel pipe joining methods for stainless steel pipes, welded, threaded, flanged, and crimped. Different connection methods have different advantages and disadvantages.

1. Welded

Including butt argon arc welding, socket argon arc welding. Tungsten argon arc welding (TIG) is used to connect seams or sockets or circular fusion welding to form an integrated connection. Welding connection is a universal connection method, but the welding of stainless steel requires gas protection inside and outside the pipeline. Otherwise, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel will be greatly reduced.

2. Threaded

When threaded connection is used, the stainless steel pipe requires a larger thickness due to the depth of the thread, and at the same time, it is much more difficult to machine threads on stainless steel than on galvanized steel pipes. At the same time, the construction efficiency of threaded connection is low.

3. Flanged

(1) The connection strength is high. Due to the good rigidity of the shoulder-shaped step, the connection strength is much greater than the grooved connection of ordinary thin-walled stainless steel pipes.

(2) Since the connection strength does not depend on the rigidity of the pipe itself, only the pressure bearing capacity of the pipe itself needs to be considered when calculating the wall thickness of the pipe. Therefore, the pipe wall thickness can be greatly reduced (the pipe wall thickness can be reduced by about 25%).

(3) The sealing reliability is high. The shoulder type pipe joint is made in the factory, so its roundness is high, and the sealing performance after installation is much higher than that of the ordinary grooved connection.

(4) Easy installation and fast installation speed.

4. Crimped

Including single compression, double compression and ring compression. By applying pressure to the outer circle of the pipe fitting that has been inserted into the pipe, the pipe that the pipe fitting is connected to and inserted is deformed together, thereby achieving the connection and sealing of the pipe and the pipe fitting. Extrusion connection has become the main connection method for thin-walled stainless steel pipes with a diameter of ≤100mm, and it is estimated that the market share exceeds 3/4.
