Hydraulic Steel Pipe Connection - Bite Type Pipe Coupling

What to do if the hydraulic pipeline leaks when it is connected? Do you still use raw material to bring the seal? A company's equipment had been tested for low-pressure leakage, but the equipment did not leak, but there was an exposed strip of raw material at the pipe couplings, and the sound of dripping water kept coming from the edge of the Teflon tape at the joint. The purpose of the article is not to refuse to use Teflon tape, but to introduce a pipe coupling that can have a good sealing effect without using Teflon tape.

Bite type pipe couplings: The bite type pipe coupling consists of a functional nut, a rubber seal ring and a metal ferrule.

working principle:

When the nut is tightened, the nut pushes the metal snap ring forward, and the metal supporting inner cone surface of the rubber sealing ring contacts the front end of the metal sleeve. As the functional nut is tightened, the metal supporting inner cone surface of the rubber sealing ring will give a radial pressure on the front end of the metal cutting ferrule. As the pressure increases, the inner blade of the metal ferrule cuts evenly into the outer surface of the metal pipe in the circumferential direction to form an effective seal. When the rib of the metal snap ring and the end face of the metal support of the rubber seal ring are in contact, the nut required to be tightened, and the torque increases rapidly. This rapid increase in torque can be easily felt, which can prevent the risk of over-tightening.

Precautions:

1. The pipe ends of the metal pipes such as aluminum structural pipe fittings used for connection need to be flush and cannot be cut with a pipe cutter. They need to be sawed off and the burrs at the pipe mouth should be cleaned.

2. The wall of the metal pipe used for connection should not be too thin. If it is too thin, an inner sleeve is required.

3. The outer diameter size and ellipticity accuracy of the metal pipe are relatively high, which is also easy to ignore. The large outer diameter deviation is easy to cause leakage and pipe detachment.

4. When used repeatedly, check whether the front end of the sealing ring is damaged, and if there is a damage, replace it in time.
