Specifications and Types of Plumbing Pipe Nipples

1. Specifications of plumbing pipe nipples

Specifications of plumbing pipe nipples are generally determined according to the difference in interface size. There are two types of plumbing pipe nipple specifications: 1/2 and 3/4. Because plumbing pipe nipples have different interface sizes, when purchasing plumbing pipe nipples, pay attention to whether the specifications are in line with your own water pipes, etc., so as to avoid the trouble of return and exchange due to non-conforming specifications.

Plumbing pipe nipples are also related to the material of the plumbing pipe nipples, including plastic material, stainless steel material, copper material and iron-plated pipe material. Generally speaking, stainless steel pipe joints are of the best quality because they are not easy to rust and are very durable, but the problem is that the price will be slightly more expensive. Plastic plumbing pipe nipples are basically matched with water pipes, the price is the cheapest, but they are not very durable. Copper and iron-plated plumbing pipe nipples are normal.

2. Types of plumbing pipe nipples

Plumbing pipe nipples are mainly divided into two types: closed type and open type.

(1) Closed type

There are thimble and spring inside the closed water pipe joint. When not in use, the two ends of the water pipe joint are held against the pipe under the action of the thimble and the spring, which can block the flow of fluid. After the water pipe joint is connected, the thimble will return to its original position under the action of the spring to allow fluid to circulate.

(2) Open type

In the open water pipe joint, the two ends of the water pipe joint are divided into male and female. Generally, one end is a pin-type insertion end called a male head, and the other end of a hole-type insertion end is a female head. When connecting and using, when the jacket on the female head of the water pipe joint is pushed to the other end, the male head will be moved out because of the rolling of the steel ball in the water pipe joint. In this way, the male and female parts have no valves, and fluid will flow out.
